Facet-joint infiltration and periradicular therapy for back pain

Targeted therapy at the origin of the pain

Wear and tear to the spine, and especially to the intervertebral disc, often results in severe pain and physical impairment, which imposes considerable limitations on daily life. Earlier, some types of pain were difficult to treat - especially pain stemming from a nerve root irritation.

A modern method provides new perspectives in the treatment of back pain. Under computed tomographic control, pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory drugs are injected directly at the origin of the pain: With periradicular therapy (PRT) the substances are injected at the affected nerve root, and in facet-joint infiltration (FJI) directly at the facet joints.
